The AUTOCLEAT has been designed to be able to be installed by the ‘home handy man’ or any marine tradesperson.
The AUTOCLEAT 200
Tools required: - Power Drill - Hole Saw, 50.4mm or 2” - 10mm drill bit - Jig saw - Adjustable spanner
First determine a suitable position(s) for AUTOCLEAT. You will need to ensure that the location you have chosen on your boat as the following; - sufficient under deck clearance for the retracted horns 170mm (6.7”) from the deck. - sufficient flat surface to seal the AUTOCLEAT to the deck. - access to the under deck location for securing and wiring of the AutoCleat. - the ‘under deck” portion the AUTOCLEAT is protected from the elements. - and of course, above the waterline of the vessel.
Once a suitable location(s) has been found the AUTOCLEAT can be installed. Step 1 - Enclosed with the AUTOCLEAT is a paper template of the central cut-out and fixing holes, tape this to the deck at the desired location and first drill the two 2” inch holes through the deck, fig 1.
Step 2 - Now cut from hole to hole with a jigsaw or similar tool to leave the central cut-out as shown in fig 2.
Step 3 - With the central cutout complete, drill the four 10mm diameter holes for fixing the AUTOCLEAT to the deck, fig 3.
Step 4 - Check the AUTOCLEAT fits into the cut-out and fixing holes. Now remove the AUTOCLEAT from the cut-out and apply marine grade sealant around the cut-out and fixing holes to ensure a water tight seal between the deck and the AUTOCLEAT once installed.
Step 5 - Place the AUTOCLEAT with the Power Failure Override (PFO) button facing towards the centre of the vessel into the cut-out in the deck, fig 5, and tighten the four fixing nuts and washers from under the deck, fig 6. smooth and clean any excess sealant from between the AUTOCLEAT and the deck.
Step 6 - Using the electrical wiring diagram shown below, connect the two wires from the AUTOCLEAT to the control switch. Test the AUTOCLEAT, if the switch is not configured to liking then simply swap the two wire coming from the AUTOCLEAT or rotate the control switch 180 degrees. The control switch (10amps) supplied is rated to control only two AUTOCLEATS (5 amps each) directly. The AUTOCLEAT is now ready to use. |
